Junior Ava James is Hard of Hearing/Deaf but that hasn’t stopped her from pursuing her love for music and poetry. Ava has written tons of poems, played pianos, and written songs. She loves the vibration of the tunes that are played on the piano as she listens along with her hearing aid that helps pick up the sound. She says, “Ever since I laid hands on the piano, I have fallen deeply in love with the sound of all the amazing songs that were to be played.”
In her free time, Ava takes time to open a piano website on her laptop to play songs of her own that are saved in a document so she remembers how the song is played. Two of her favorite original pieces are: This World is Amazing & Welcome to My Happy Land. “These songs give a happy world vibe,” Ava says.
One of Ava’s favorite poems she wrote below:
Beautiful Sound of a Piano
By: Ava James
My time for everything that was done
For all of what my time was for
I spent it doing what I love most.
Hearing the sound of opening doors.
As the floor creaks,
And as the keys play–
For all of what my time was for
I put all my time away
For the sounds of the piano
And I pressed the keys.
I let out a beautiful song
As my fingers slip off the keys,
That’s a song that is to be played,
Beautifully.
