College Advisory is directed by Ms. Jennah Waters. Located in B building room 118, she tends to help students with plans for college, giving opportunities such as college trips to experience whether or not they will attend that specific college after high school. “I would start planning trips somewhere in the spring, we are pausing for a little,” she remarked, letting students know the time when the first trip is happening. It also could be because of the cold weather coming through. For the place where the trip is going to happen as it is undecided as of January 16th, 2026.
For the first college trip of this new semester for Galileo students, Ms. Waters said “they tour around while on the trip, take pictures, and eat food at their cafeteria.” which would allow students to explore the college and maybe experience some things that they didn’t experience at the other college trips. Ms. Waters also said “It depends on how far the trip will be, we will use different buses depending on distance.” which explains how they are going to be attending their first trip. You may ask why? Well it is probably because of the opportunity seniors get by attending that college.
Ms. Waters also helps students with things like Scholarships and the FAFSA form. She sends a list to the seniors of Galileo giving more opportunities to apply to as many colleges to ensure your plan after high school is something that you would want for yourself. FAFSA night is an opportunity that takes place sometimes after school to allow you, your parents, and any relatives a chance of filling the form out with help from teachers, or anyone who attends with Ms. Waters.
Gear up is a program directed by Ms. Michelle Martin aka the gym, and health ed teacher. She plans trips for the juniors that brings them to different places which also allows the students to explore. “No trips are being planned as of right now,” which is expected due to the new semester starting last week. Buses are used the same way as college advisory trips. It still depends on distance and what place that the trip will be held at. Ms. Martin gives students time to sign up for the trips sending out emails to all the students allowing everyone to get a fair chance of going.
Overall, Ms. Waters, and Ms. Martin might have plans for the future, but as of right now, they are on a huge break taking in the new school and getting their stuff together and preparing for the rest of the year.
