The Galileo Falcons are making waves in the academic arena with their impressive performances in Quiz Bowl competitions this season. Demonstrating skill and dedication, the team has showcased its talent in recent events.
On October 12th, Galileo’s Quiz Bowl team competed in a tournament at Blacksburg High School, taking fourth place overall. The Falcons’ top placers were junior Carter Wilson and senior Sophia Markowitz. Wilson came in third, and Markowitz came in seventh. We’re proud of our Falcons’ achievements and had the chance to catch up with Wilson, who shared, “I had to answer 200 questions, with each question having 20 bonus ones, so… around 800 questions I answered in total.”
On October 17th, Galileo competed against Chatham High School at home, dominating 205-85 and 225-135. Wilson scored 140 points, and Markowitz scored 125.
The momentum continued on October 21st when the Falcons triumphed over George Washington High School, winning 185-130 in an away match. Wilson and Markowitz led the team, each scoring 50 points during the toss-up rounds.
Come out tonight to support the Falcons as they take on Gretna High School at home! The match starts at 5:00 p.m.
