Galileo is hosting the annual Fall Play Competition for the first time this year. The choice was made by Mr. Smith, our athletic director. We haven’t been able to host the other years considering Galileo doesn’t have an auditorium. But with moving to Langston, that’s all going to change, and we might even host the next one as well. “I think the idea is this one is more like a trial run,” Mr. Weyler stated when questioned about the competition.
The competition will take place at George Washington High School on Saturday, November 2. The actual plays should begin around noon, and end around 4:00 or 5:00. People outside of the competing schools are allowed to attend, so long as they abide by the rules of the competition. For example, staying quiet, only getting up during admission, and turning phones off are greatly appreciated. It will be free admission for those interested in attending.
Several schools are traveling to perform: Franklin, Cumberland, Buffalo Gap, and West Point. They will go in a random order, one after the other. Afterwards, the judges will take time to vote on the winners, then present awards. Those placing first and second will move on to super regionals at West Point High School on November 23!
