On Wednesday, November 6th, Galileo participated in the VHSL Group 1A Region B XC Championships meet in Altavista, Virginia. The teams that participated are: Altavista Combined School, Appomattox County High School, Buffalo Gap, Carver Academy, Cumberland High School, Galileo High School, Rappahannock County, and William Campbell Combined School. The Falcons delivered remarkable performances, with the boys’ team coming in second overall and girls’ team securing first place.
On the boys’ side, senior Daniel Roman-Amarillo led the team with a 2nd place finish and a time of 19:04. Sophomore Barak Tahirkhali followed very closely, placing 5th with a time of 19:41, while senior Na’Tevis Toney came in 15th, crossing the line at 21:40.
For the girls’ team, senior Maya Herndon achieved an impressive 1st place with a time of 22:47. Sophomore Camryn Snead placed 6th with a time of 26:13, and freshman Jessie Arthur rounded out the top finishers with a 8th place time of 27:13.
Galileo’s cross country teams demonstrated not only skill but also a powerful sense of teamwork and perseverance at the VHSL Group 1A Region B Championships. The Falcons’ success and dedication have earned them the opportunity to represent their school at the VHSL Class 1 State XC Meet at Virginia Tech on November 16th.
