Spooky month has just arrived and it’s about time to start considering which costumes to wear. To help my fellow peers, I’ve made a list of some chosen costumes. The ratings are from most popular to least and unused ideas will follow the categories.
Since October contains Galileo’s Halloween Dance and our advisory day for our Halloween celebration, here are the most common categories for costumes this year.
1. Movie Characters
Coming in first place as the most popular are movie characters. There are many openings for costume ideas when about movies. Disney, Marvel, D.C., or just regular dramas and entertainment movies can be inspirations for Halloween costumes. Superheroes aren’t too popular this year so there is an idea if you want to be unique.
2. TV Characters
Everyone has watched TV before and had at least one favorite show. An easy costume choice would be to dress up as your favorite character or the character you most look or act like. Animated shows seem to be more popular than shows with actors. However, that only leaves an opportunity to dress up as a real person rather than trying to pull off an animated person.
3. Anime
Coming in third are Anime characters. Anime is popular entertainment for this generation and many of Galileo students watch a variety of shows. Dressing up as your favorite anime character is an easy way to strike up conversations about various anime with other people. At the moment we have more male anime characters than female. Hopefully, that leaves an opening for female anime lovers to dress as their favorite females.
4. Generic
Many costumes get used a lot throughout the years. One such is monsters. Although we only have zombies so far, skeletons, scarecrows, mummies, and other monsters are still very open to the public. Villains from various moves are used a lot as well as perceived villains like pirates or evil mermaids. We only have the former so hopefully some sirens love to make our spooky dance have some more blue.
5. Famous People
There are many famous role models and people others want to be like. Why not dress up as your Idol for Halloween? Famous actors or even singers could be inspiration for a costume. Perhaps an outfit they wore on tour or an iconic outfit everyone remembers them for. Historical people were famous once. Dressing up as someone like Galileo himself would be funny for our school.
6. Fruit
As our last category, we have fruit. Dressing up as fruits can be a fun group activity. Getting a bunch of friends to dress up as the whole citrus family would make for a good photo in the yearbook. Even dressing up as your favorite fruit could be an easy costume provided you have the right color.
With so many costume options to choose from, there’s something for everyone this spooky season. As we gear up for Galileo’s Halloween Dance and celebrations, don’t be afraid to think outside the box and try something unexpected. After all, the best costumes are the ones that reflect your personality and bring a little extra magic to the festivities. Happy haunting, Falcons!
